On October 14, 2015, as Desperate Steps went to print, the skeletal remains of Geraldine Largay were found about 3,000 yards away from the AT. On October 30, 2015, the Maine Warden Service announced the results of the state medical examiner’s inquiry which concluded that she had died of exposure and lack of food and water, according to the autopsy carried out by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
